Training At The Fleming Laser Institute Melbourne, Australia

When I first decided to add tattoo removal to my skill set I looked around to see who could offer me the best training. At the time, in New Zealand, there was no one doing laser tattoo removal so I went to Melbourne, Australia to do my training with the Fleming Laser Training Institute. 

Trudy Fleming was an inspiration to me and I learnt a lot from her but even after this training, and immersing myself into all things laser tattoo removal, I still learn new things, if not daily now, certainly monthly.

My mission, from the day that I decided to offer laser tattoo removal, was to be the best laser operator, offering the best service to my clients, no matter their walk of life. 

There are two aspects of laser tattoo removal training.

1. laser safety. This involves having your room setup correctly, having the right eye glasses and shields and infection control etc

2. Is the actually treatment of tattoos. This aspect of laser tattoo removal is much harder to learn. It really is all about experience.

Most people do not realise that here in New Zealand, you can purchase a cheap laser directly from China and be offering laser tattoo removal with absolutely no training. You can actually do a lot of damage using a laser and many operators have no idea what they are doing. Even more frightening, is people bringing in lasers to do their own treatments. They watch laser tattoo removal clips on YouTube and think it looks easy. Over the years that I have been in this business, I have seen extensive scarring on people caused by operators that either dont know what they are doing or dont care.
