If you really hate your tattoo, then anytime is a great time to start laser tattoo removal, although winter is the best time to start your laser tattoo removal.
This is because there is less opportunity to expose your skin to the sun which is highly contraindicated when it comes to laser tattoo removal.
If you do start your laser tattoo removal treatments in the summer months then do make sure you keep the treatment area out of the sun at least 6 weeks before and 6 weeks after laser.
There are two reasons to keep your laser treatment area out of the sun;
- the laser can’t tell the difference between dark skin and the ink. This means that the skin will be treated by the laser and there is an increased risk of scarring
- Light, in this case the light produced by the laser can stimulate melanin production resulting in possibly hyperpigmentation and/or hypopigmentation.
